SAINTS’26 brings researchers and practitioners together to discuss how we can reduce the computational and environmental footprint of modern ML, while still pushing scientific discovery forward.
SustainML invites the community to take part in SAINTS’26 (Sustainable Artificial Intelligence for Sciences), the first edition of a new workshop series dedicated to advancing research and practice in sustainable AI. The workshop will focus on the growing computational demands of modern AI systems, efficiency-oriented algorithmic advances, and the broader challenges and opportunities in reducing AI’s environmental impact.
A key SustainML connection is the participation of Raghavendra Selvan (Assistant Professor, University of Copenhagen), who leads SustainML’s WP3 at the University of Copenhagen (KU) and represents KU’s core research contribution to the consortium. In SustainML, WP3 focuses on building an energy-consumption-optimized toolkit of ML methods and optimization approaches that account for the resource footprint across the ML pipeline. The Department of Computer Science (DIKU) at KU also developed Carbontracker, a foundational tool referenced for WP3’s resource- and carbon-aware optimization work.
When & where: March 6, 2026, hosted at the University of Copenhagen (Biocenter) in Copenhagen, with hybrid participation (online details provided after sign-up).
